The GreenInfraNet partnership represents a collaborative effort across European regions to advance the concept of green infrastructure. By bringing together diverse expertise from environmental agencies, research institutions, and local authorities, the network works to identify and analyse effective practices that bring nature closer to where people live and work. This approach supports biodiversity conservation while also addressing broader policy goals related to climate change adaptation, sustainable land use, and the preservation of essential ecosystem services. Through structured exchange and shared learning, partners develop practical solutions that can be transferred and implemented across different regional contexts, strengthening the overall resilience of European landscapes.

Green infrastructure offers a multifunctional approach to land management that benefits both people and nature. By integrating natural and semi-natural features into spatial planning, communities can enhance biodiversity, improve water management, and create healthier environments for recreation and daily life. The network promotes practices that maintain ecological connectivity across agricultural and forestry landscapes, while also mitigating the adverse effects of transport and energy infrastructure. These nature-based solutions contribute to a sustainable economy by reducing long-term costs associated with conventional grey infrastructure and by delivering multiple co-benefits for local communities and ecosystems alike.

Knowledge exchange lies at the heart of the GreenInfraNet mission. Partners from across Europe regularly convene to share experiences, discuss challenges, and showcase successful approaches to greening infrastructure. These exchanges cover a wide range of topics, from policy frameworks and financing mechanisms to technical implementation and community engagement strategies. The network's library and online resource collections serve as valuable repositories of publications, case studies, and practical guidance materials. By fostering a vibrant community of practice, the partnership ensures that valuable expertise is not siloed but rather disseminated widely, enabling others to build upon proven approaches and adapt them to local conditions.

The central and eastern European regions hold particular significance within the network's activities, as these areas often face unique environmental and developmental challenges. GreenInfraNet works to ensure that the benefits of green infrastructure are accessible across all participating regions, recognising that ecological connectivity does not respect administrative boundaries. Through targeted workshops, study visits, and collaborative projects, the partnership helps to build capacity and raise awareness about the value of nature-based solutions. This regional focus helps to balance development objectives with conservation goals, demonstrating that economic growth and environmental stewardship can proceed hand in hand when planned thoughtfully.

Staying informed about the latest developments in green infrastructure is essential for practitioners and policymakers alike. The network regularly publishes news updates, reports on project outputs, and announcements about upcoming events such as conferences, workshops, and partner meetings. These communications keep stakeholders connected to ongoing initiatives and emerging opportunities for collaboration. The events calendar provides a comprehensive overview of activities taking place across Europe, while the news section highlights key achievements and milestones reached by the partnership. Through these channels, GreenInfraNet maintains an open dialogue with the broader community, inviting engagement and encouraging the widespread adoption of green infrastructure principles.
